Coachella ’16 Photo Diary

Coachella is my favorite festival of the year. Not only is the music, food, and atmosphere on point…but the fashion is truly inspiring! Check out some of my shots from the weekend. I can’t wait for next year!

Festival Survival Kit

Well ladies, it’s official…festival season is upon us! This really is one of my most favorite times of the year. Why might you ask? Since I don’t usually wear a whole lot of color, I feel that festival season allows me to explore different areas of fashion and really surprise myself when it comes to outfit picks.

Last year was my first time at Coachella and I had such a blast. The whole atmosphere, the music, the food, and of course the fashion was to die for. Unfortunately I won’t be attending this year since I’m trying to save my money for Paris, but I know a lot of you babes will be attending multiple festivals this Spring and Summer!

So take a look at some of my favorite products that I totally recommend for festivals.

First….probably the most important product that I bring to any music festival or outdoor activity: sunscreen. My family has a history of skin cancer, so I take my sunscreen very seriously! And don’t be scared that you might not get tan if you wear sunscreen. I promise you will, it might just take a little longer! But in the end, it’s totally worth it (sunburns really suck)!! My all time favorite sunscreen comes from the fabulous company Coola. I really love their products because they don’t feel heavy or greasy on my skin. At festivals, it’s always so hot and sometimes humid, so lightweight sunscreen is perfect.

Second…sunglasses! Like I said above, it’s always so hot and sunny at festivals. Make sure to protect your eyes and look stylish at the same time! I’m a huge fan of sunglasses and have so many pairs (every outfit needs it’s own pair of sunnies…right?), but I’m really loving these stylish and sturdy frames from Otis. The leopard print detailing on the side is so fun and trendy — perfect finishing touches to any festival outfit. Not to mention these and all of Otis’s frames have scratch-proof lenses, which is great for me since I can be a little clumsy at times and drop my sunnies!

Third…a bikini top! When I was at Coachella last year, I couldn’t believe how hot and humid it was outside. I mean yes, the festival did take place in the middle of Palm Springs…but man I was not used to the high temps! By the third day, I really just wanted to wear a bikini. Everything else was just too heavy and made me sweat like a pig! I think one of the most perfect and logical festival outfits consist of some kind of flowy and loose bottom, such as a skirt, some loose shorts or even a maxi skirt paired with a bikini top. Super trendy and casual — plus you’ll get a nice tan!! This bikini top from LOVESURF is so cute, I adore the bright colors! It’s so comfortable and easy to move around in, which means it’s perfect for dancing and layering!

Fourth…a compact towel. I feel like this product is usually the one that gets forgotten the most at festivals and concerts. But really, I think it’s the most important (other than sunscreen of course). Not only can you lay it out on the grass to sit on and enjoy music from afar, you can also use it as a blanket when the sun goes down and the temps get a little chilly! What is great about this MAYDE Turkish towel is how small and light-weight it can be. You can just sneak it in your purse or bag! So so perfect.

So there it is ladies, my festival survival kit! I hope you all have an amazing festival season, it’s going to be a great one!! Let me know what festivals you’re going to, I’d love to hear!

Big shout-out to Agency Glow for working with me to make the perfect festival survival kit!

Coachella Recap

Well, reality has set in and I have to wait a whole year until I’m able to go back to Coachella. Even though it’s only been a couple of days, I can’t help but catch myself daydreaming of dancing to music without a care in the world, lying on the grass looking up at the balloons, making new friends who are oh so friendly, and loving everything about living in the moment. This was my first trip to Coachella, and I can’t express how much I fell in love with the festival. Everyone was so loving, the music was amazing, and spending time with my best friends is always a wonderful bonus. I’m seriously counting down the days until Coachella 2015.

What I really enjoyed was discovering all of the interesting structures around the festival, and playing inside what I would call “adult playhouses”. These fascinating houses were located all throughout the campsites and luckily we had a few friends who were camping! So we were able to hang out at their campsite before we went into the festival. While in the campsite, we were able to discover all of these fun houses. My favorite one was the tribal looking one designed with bottles on the outside. There were so many, we didn’t have time to check them all out! As for the structures inside the festival, my favorite was a huge spaceman who moved slowly around the festival. Each day there was a different face inside the helmet! It was awesome.

On another note, I’m definitely going to camp next year (we stayed in a hotel about 15 minutes away from the festival). Yes I’ve heard that it’s dirty and the bathrooms are pretty ratchet, but honestly just being in the campsite made the whole trip feel complete. It’s like you are at Coachella 24/7 and I feel like I would really love that. Plus being able to decorate a campsite would be quite fun!

Some of my favorite bands/artists that I was able to see were OutKast, Ellie Goulding, Grouplove, HAIM, A$AP Ferg, Flume, Bastille, ZZ Ward, Glitch Mob, Zedd, Muse, MGMT, Pharrell, Lorde (amazing!), Skrillex, Empire of the Sun, Arcade Fire, Lana Del Rey, Calvin Harris, Kid Cudi, and Krewella! There were so many more I wish I could have seen, but sadly with so many artists, you have to pick and choose.

Another really cool thing that happened on Sunday was being picked to participate in Carpoolchella! Since we had more than 4 people in the car when parking, and we were lucky enough to be spotted by the Carpoolchella workers, we got to pick a prize out of a hat! We all won $50 worth of Coachella merchandise!! This was so amazing because who doesn’t like free stuff?! (especially when merchandise is so much more expensive at festivals!)

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the festival:
